Dear Rockwern Families:
B’ruchim Ha’baim! Welcome! I hope you and your family have had a restful and enjoyable summer vacation, and it is a pleasure to welcome you to a new school year! As the new Head of School at the Rockwern Academy I am thrilled to be here, and I look forward to getting to know you and your family in the years to come.
This is an exciting time at Rockwern and, more broadly, in the Cincinnati Jewish community. Under the leadership of the Jewish Federation and Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati, a clear vision (Cincinnati 2020) has been developed to realize the vision of an engaged community: one that retains and attracts Jewish individuals and families and increases the region’s Jewish population. As Cincinnati’s venerable Jewish community day school for the past 60 years, Rockwern parents, students, faculty and staff will play a key role in helping to make this community vision a reality. I look forward to your involvement and support to help make Rockwern and our larger Jewish community everything that they can be!
For 60 years Rockwern (formerly Yavneh Day School) has prided itself on providing an excellent Jewish and general academic education in a warm and nurturing environment. For 60 years Rockwern has enabled young Jewish men and women in this community to fulfill their potential as Jews and as citizens of the world. This continues to be the hallmark of the school and continues to be what sets Rockwern apart.
I look forward to working with you as we continue to fulfill this mission of providing an outstanding general and Jewish education to every child at Rockwern.
On behalf of the entire faculty and staff it is my pleasure to welcome you to an exciting new year!
Dr. David B. Finell
Head of School
