Rockwern’s commitment to community outreach to both Jewish and non-Jewish communities is strong. One such program is the annual Butterfly Project, a school-wide event to commemorate the million and a half Jewish children who died in the Holocaust. We work in partnership with local Holocaust survivor groups, the Center for Holocaust & Humanity Education and, in recent years, with students and teachers from local Catholic schools who participate to increase awareness of the Holocaust in non-Jewish communities. Rockwern also sponsors an annual interfaith Passover Seder with Rockwern and All Saints Catholic School middle school students. In addition, Rockwern students travel to local nursing homes to sing Hanukkah songs, to conduct Passover Seders and to deliver Purim baskets. In 2010/11, Rockwern made national news with our collaborative “Three Cups of Tea” all-school reading and school visit program with students from the International Academy, a Muslim Day School located near Cincinnati.
