Elaine Kaplan


Elaine Kaplan has served as Rockwern’s Assistant Principal for the past three years and has taught here for the past nineteen years. In her first year as Assistant Principal, she chaired the Steering Committee for the ISACS Accreditation process. She has been responsible for General Studies in our K-8 program and in that capacity has overseen curriculum, discipline, standardized testing, and technology integration, while also teaching Language Arts in the upper grades and acting as the faculty advisor for our Student Council.

Mrs. Kaplan graduated summa cum laude from Amherst College, where she majored in American Studies. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Mrs. Kaplan has taught fifth through ninth grade Language Arts and Social Studies for twenty-three years, the last nineteen at Yavneh/Rockwern. In 2011, Mrs. Kaplan was one of three teachers receiving the Joyce Heiman Education Excellence Award. Recently, she completed a Certificate in Jewish Leadership program through Northwestern University and the Spertus Institute.
